Poem: Stay What?

Mass destruction has been present for so long,

when did it begin?

Grass into pavement, trees into your wallet...

Did the response from above, from within not send?

There's a belief there's paradise elsewhere,

A place called heaven that has no comparison.

There's an undying hope there's better elsewhere, because at this point--there is no competition!

Let's flee to the next country--fix my problems!

Let's give money to other people--I'll fix your problems!

No, my ancestors may have not been born and raised here, but I am sure they weren't living in fear.

All lives matter, all lives matter!

So why are you quiet when black and brown make no laughter?

All you hear is the mockery of sadness and somber?

Where are you when an innocent person, a child of color takes their last breath in front the local PD?

Where are you when the folks say my people " too black", "too dark" to see?

Are you vocal when there's no justice, confusion--a solidified amateur?

Or you're one of those..."Can I speak to the manager?"

Inquire some kindness, less money, and more understanding.

Push past those generational curses, it's called reprimanding.

Teach the next one,

how can we learn and grow if you're no work, all fun?

Open thy mind and see a possibility

Correct the hostility and let's make peace...please.
